Different shops use different terms. In this context, each describes the substrate machined to the required geometry for the work that follows.

Prestige does not split them into artificial services. The useful question is what geometry you need machined, what your team will do with it next, and whether the project stops at the finished physical CNC output or continues into a mold.

A capable internal tooling department does not need to hand off the whole process. Prestige fills the CNC gap, delivers the physical output your shop needs, and your people take it from there.

The CNC pattern or master can begin a complete Prestige tooling project—or be the finished physical deliverable your own mold shop needs.

01 / Primary · complete Prestige tooling

Pattern first. Finished tooling next.

Prestige prepares the buildup, programs and machines the physical form, checks and finishes the pattern, then keeps it in the shop and carries the agreed project into downstream mold production.

02 / Physical pattern or master only

We machine it. Your mold shop takes it from there.

Supply production-ready CAD or agreed geometry. Prestige builds, programs, machines, checks, primes, and sands the physical form to the agreed downstream requirement, then ships it back to your tooling department.

The mold-maker difference

We understand what happens after the router stops.

Prestige approaches CNC pattern and master work with downstream tooling in mind: draft, surface requirements, physical handling, practical mold construction, and how the machined form will be used next.

A standalone pattern is not automatically pulled from the machine and put on a truck. Priming, sanding, and surface preparation are matched to the agreed downstream process. That is the difference between buying spindle time and working with a mold shop that also has serious CNC capacity.

Technical proof point

Thermwood Model 90.

Prestige machines large-format patterns and masters on a 5-axis Thermwood Model 90. Its approximate single-piece machining envelope is 5 ft × 10 ft with about 36 inches of Z capability. Larger tooling remains possible when the project can be machined in sections and assembled as one physical pattern or master in the shop.
